Color Business, Imagine Mcdonald’s logo in pink color instead of yellow, and what if Pepsis logo changes to Yellow from the blue? Can you imagine the logo of google in black color? A logo is the essence of a brand and color gives it meaning.
Color is Very Importance of Brands
10 years ago Heinz produced a different kind of ketchup that got success all over the world and they sold 7 million in the first seven months. It became very popular that people also started selling it off on eBay. But what was different in that ketchup? Is the taste was better? Or some change in ingredients? No, it was the color, they changed it to green. Another change happened with Pepsi; In 1992 they introduced crystal Pepsi. Here the taste was the same as regular Pepsi only change was in color they changed it to a clear transparent color and it became a huge loss to the company and they discontinued the production.
So, Color is very important for any brand. They play a crucial role as every color has its own meaning and emotions. Therefore we should wisely choose a color for our business. The right color combination highlights the strength of your business and draws consumer attention and the wrong one can affect business.
Color is contextual. It varies from product to product. One can buy yellow color shampoo but will think twice before buying a yellow color car. So while thinking about color for your business, it’s important to think about what color communicates to the customer. Different color represents different messages. Like, green represents nature, adventure, youth, and black represents credibility, strength and power and both these color are meant for a different segment like for green it will be best for health care sector or tourism or medical science and black would be best for construction, oil, finance, cosmetics. So, once we know the sector we are into and to whom we will be serving then we can easily choose the right color to represent it.
The next thing we consider is that the brand which we want to create should be of what color combinations? Should they complement each other or contrast? Complementary colors bring out each other’s attributes whereas contrast colors bring our surprise element to your brand
Then after deciding colors we should choose what hues we want to use for the colors that we selected. Hues help to tone down or brighten the colors. One should choose their hues very wisely as they depict the emotions rightly.
It’s very important to consider your competitor’s colors too. Everyone wants to stand out in the field they are in, choosing a color opposite to your main competitor can help people to differentiate between you. Like pizza hut and dominos both serve pizza and cater to the same category of people but the colors of their brands are different.
It’s up to you what color, tones, and hues you add to your brand it should help consumers to get the idea of what you want to say and stand out in the field you are serving!
